Who we are & what this policy covers
Trynexy ("we", "us", "our") is an Australian business based in Sydney, New South Wales. This Privacy Policy applies to all personal information we collect through our website (trynexy.com and any subdomains), customer service emails, advertising, and any other interaction you have with us.
We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). If you have questions about how we handle your data, contact us at support@trynexy.com.
Information we collect
Information you give us directly
When you place an order, create an account, contact support, or sign up to our newsletter, we collect:
- Contact details — name, email address, phone number, shipping and billing addresses
- Account credentials — password (stored as a one-way hash) if you create an account
- Order history — products purchased, order dates, delivery details
- Customer service messages — the content of emails, contact-form submissions, and any photos or videos you send us for warranty or refund claims
- Reviews & survey responses — if you submit a product review or respond to a post-purchase survey
Payment card details are entered directly into Shopify Payments or your chosen buy-now-pay-later provider. We never see or store your full card number.
Information collected automatically
When you use our website, certain information is collected automatically:
- Device & browser info — IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type, screen size
- Usage data — pages viewed, time spent, links clicked, referring website, search terms
- Cookies & similar technologies — see section 5 for the full breakdown
Information from third parties
We may receive information about you from:
- Payment processors — transaction status, fraud-risk indicators, masked card details
- Shipping carriers — delivery confirmations and exception notices
- Advertising platforms — attribution data showing which ad led to your visit or purchase (without revealing your identity to us directly)
- Review platforms — verified-buyer review content, if you choose to submit one
How we use your information
We use your personal information for the following purposes:
- Fulfilling your order — processing payment, packing and shipping, providing tracking, handling returns and warranty claims
- Customer service — responding to your questions, troubleshooting product issues, managing your account
- Transactional communications — order confirmations, shipping notifications, account security alerts (you cannot opt out while you have an active order)
- Marketing — sending you emails or SMS about new products, offers, and stories only if you've opted in
- Improving our website & products — analysing how customers use the site, identifying bugs, testing new features
- Advertising — measuring the performance of our ads and showing you relevant ads on Meta, Google, TikTok, and other platforms
- Fraud prevention & security — detecting suspicious transactions, preventing account takeover, protecting against abuse
- Legal compliance — meeting our obligations under Australian tax, consumer protection, and privacy law
We do not use your personal information for any purpose that isn't compatible with the reasons listed above.
Who we share your information with
We share your personal information only with the following categories of recipients, and only to the extent needed:
Cookies & tracking technologies
We and our partners use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies to make our site work and to understand how it's being used. Broadly, there are three categories:
- Essential cookies — required for the site to function (cart, checkout, login, security). These can't be turned off without breaking the site.
- Analytics cookies — help us understand which pages are popular, how visitors navigate, and where we can improve. We use anonymised and aggregated data wherever possible.
- Advertising cookies & pixels — used by Meta, Google, TikTok, and similar platforms to measure ad performance and retarget visitors with relevant ads.
You can control cookies through your browser settings — most browsers let you block all cookies, block third-party cookies only, or delete cookies that have already been set. Blocking essential cookies will prevent you from completing a purchase.
For advertising specifically, you can opt out of interest-based ads directly with each platform: Meta, Google, and TikTok.
International data transfers
Because we use Shopify and other cloud service providers, some of your personal information may be stored or processed on servers located outside Australia — typically in the United States, Canada, Singapore, or the European Union.
When we transfer your data overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles it consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles. This usually involves contractual safeguards with our service providers, and relying on providers that are certified under recognised international privacy frameworks.
How long we keep your information
We keep your personal information only for as long as we need it, then we delete or anonymise it. Typical retention periods:
Some data is retained longer when required by law — for example, tax records under the Income Tax Assessment Act must be kept for five years after the relevant transaction.
Your privacy rights
Under Australian privacy law, you have the following rights over your personal information:
- Access — you can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correction — you can ask us to update or correct any information that's inaccurate or out of date
- Deletion — you can ask us to delete your information, subject to any legal obligations we have to retain it (e.g. tax records)
- Objection — you can opt out of marketing communications and certain automated processing
- Complaint — you can lodge a complaint with us and, if unsatisfied, with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC)
Email support@trynexy.com with your request. We'll respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before actioning the request, which can take a few days.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification, and disclosure. Our security measures include:
- Encryption in transit — all data sent between your browser and our site uses HTTPS/TLS
- PCI-DSS compliant payment handling — card details are processed by Shopify Payments, which maintains industry-standard PCI-DSS compliance
- Access controls — only authorised team members have access to customer data, and only for the purposes described in this policy
- Password hashing — account passwords are stored as one-way hashes, not plain text
- Regular security reviews — we review our practices periodically and patch vulnerabilities as they're identified
No system is 100% secure. While we use industry-standard practices, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you become aware of a security concern, please contact us immediately.
Children's privacy
Our website and products are not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under this age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@trynexy.com and we will delete it.
Marketing communications
We'll only send you marketing communications if you've opted in — typically by ticking a consent box at checkout, subscribing to our newsletter, or opting in via an SMS keyword.
You can withdraw consent at any time:
- Email — click the "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of any marketing email, or email us directly
- SMS — reply STOP to any marketing SMS, or email us
- Retargeting ads — opt out via each platform's ad settings (see section 5)
Unsubscribing from marketing doesn't stop transactional emails like order confirmations and shipping updates — those are required to complete your purchase.
Third-party websites
Our website may contain links to third-party websites — for example, airline websites referenced in our FAQ, social media platforms, or payment provider pages. Once you leave our site, this policy no longer applies. We're not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties, and we encourage you to read their own privacy policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date in the header tells you when it was last changed. Material changes will be communicated by email (if we have your address) or a prominent notice on the website.
Continuing to use our website after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
