We got tired of paying $80 to check a bag.
So we built one that never has to. Trynexy is an Australian vacuum compression carry-on, made by travellers who did the math — and refused to keep losing it to Jetstar, Virgin and Qantas baggage counters.

It started at a Jetstar counter.
In 2024, our founder watched a young family in front of him at a Sydney check-in desk get charged $220 in bag fees — for a weekend in the Gold Coast. Two of the kids started crying. Mum looked at the total and went quiet. Dad just paid it. There had to be a better way.
We did the math.
Jetstar's domestic checked bag fee starts at $55. A return trip for a family of four is $440. Over a year of school holidays, that's more than most Australians spend on the flights themselves. Virgin tightened enforcement in February 2026. Qantas isn't far behind.
We ran the numbers on every major AU carrier and wrote it up on a whiteboard. The conclusion was impossible to unsee: Australian travellers were paying for a problem we could solve with a bag.
We looked at what existed.
Vacuum compression backpacks weren't new — the Americans had Airback at $340. The Europeans had Backvac at $279. Both were well-made. Neither was designed for 56×36×23cm carry-on. Neither priced for Australians. Neither even mentioned Jetstar.
So we stopped shopping and started sketching.
We built Nexy.
Eighteen months, a lot of prototypes, and one stubborn rule: it had to pass the carry-on sizer at every Australian airline, compress in under ten seconds, and cost less than two flights' worth of bag fees. We landed on $125 — one-time, for a bag that pays for itself on trip two.
Today, more than 4,700 Aussies have skipped the carousel with a Nexy. We're just getting started.
Three things we won't compromise on.
Every product, every page, every email we send comes back to these three principles. If a decision doesn't fit all three, we don't ship it.

The things most brands in
our category still get wrong.
We've watched competitors cut corners on every one of these. We won't. If that costs us a sale, fair enough — it's a trade we're happy to make.
The people behind the bag.
A small team of travellers, designers and logistics nerds working out of Sydney. We pick up our own customer emails. If you write in, one of us replies — usually within a few hours.

"We started Trynexy because we were sick of watching Australian travellers pay $55 at a time for something a smarter bag could solve. Every Nexy we ship is a small rebellion against a system that charges you for gravity. We're here to make that rebellion easy — and affordable."
